Legal Status & Scope of Services
Private consultancy status: R-NET Cyber Unit operates as a private consultancy unit of Spyriot Security Private Limited. It is not a law-enforcement agency, police authority or government investigative body.
Service classification: Services are offered under three domains: (1) Cyber Investigation & Digital Security, (2) Detective & Field Investigation, and (3) Corporate Intelligence & Risk Protection. Depending on the engagement, work may involve advisory support, analysis, fact-finding and documentation.
Client Responsibilities & Lawful Purpose
Legitimate purpose: By requesting a service, the client confirms that the purpose is lawful and legitimate, such as legal-support research, corporate security, internal risk assessment or a genuine personal matter.
Prohibited misuse: The client must not use the service to stalk, harass, blackmail, intimidate, threaten or unlawfully intrude upon another person, or to evade a restraining order.
False information: If material misrepresentation of identity, authority or purpose is identified, R-NET may suspend or terminate the engagement and consider appropriate reporting where legally warranted. Payment treatment will be subject to the agreed contract and applicable law.
Legal Boundaries & Compliance
All work must comply with applicable Indian law, including relevant information-technology, criminal-law and data-protection requirements as in force and applicable to the engagement.
R-NET does not offer or perform:
- Unauthorised access to WhatsApp, social media, email or other private accounts.
- Illegal interception of calls or unauthorised procurement of confidential call-detail records.
- Trespassing into private premises or installing recording or tracking equipment without lawful authority and required permission.
- Covert monitoring, spyware installation or other unlawful privacy intrusions.
Authorised devices and systems: Before digital forensics or cybersecurity testing begins, the client must demonstrate lawful ownership or provide suitable written authorisation for the device, network, website or server in scope.
No Guarantee of a Specific Outcome
Investigative and analytical work depends on the availability, quality and reliability of information, technical conditions, third-party actions and legal restrictions. Fees relate to the agreed work, professional time, resources and effort—not to a guaranteed result.
R-NET does not guarantee fund recovery, identification of a person, location of a missing person, a confession, a particular finding or a legal outcome.
Results may be limited by unavailable records, deleted data, changing circumstances, technical constraints or restrictions imposed by relevant authorities.
Limitation of Liability & Legal Use of Reports
To the extent permitted by applicable law, any liability arising from a specific service engagement will be assessed in accordance with the engagement terms and applicable law. Any contractual liability cap must be expressly agreed and cannot exclude liability that the law does not permit to be excluded.
R-NET is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss to the extent such exclusion is lawful and applicable. Nothing in these terms removes any non-excludable legal rights or remedies.
Reports and collected material may assist a client, lawyer or relevant authority, but their admissibility, evidentiary value and use in proceedings depend on applicable law and the decision of the competent court or authority.
Confidentiality & Data Privacy
R-NET aims to handle client communications, case notes and materials confidentially and to restrict access to people who need the information to carry out the agreed service.
Information may be disclosed where required by applicable law, a valid order or lawful request from a competent authority, or where another lawful basis for disclosure applies.
Personal information will be handled according to the applicable privacy notice, engagement terms and legal requirements. Retention and deletion depend on the purpose of processing, the agreed case timeframe, security needs and any legal obligations to preserve records.
Payment Terms & Cancellation
Fees, advance payments, milestones, travel or other expenses, cancellation terms and deliverables will be stated in the written proposal, invoice or service agreement before work begins.
Where work has commenced, charges and any refund will be determined by the agreed terms and applicable consumer and contract law. No blanket non-refundable term overrides rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
Additional expenses must be disclosed and approved by the client in advance, except where the signed engagement terms expressly provide otherwise and the arrangement is lawful.
Client Misuse & Responsibility
The client is responsible for providing accurate information, confirming their authority to request the work, and using reports and materials lawfully.
Where permitted by law and the signed agreement, a client may be responsible for losses directly arising from their material misrepresentation, unlawful instructions or unlawful misuse of deliverables. This clause does not excuse R-NET or any other party from their own legal duties or liability.
Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be handled by a court or forum with competent jurisdiction under applicable law. Any location-specific jurisdiction clause is subject to mandatory legal requirements and must be confirmed in the relevant service agreement.
